Modern Baby Tea Shower

The baby shower theme was Modern Baby Tea Shower. In a perfect world, I would have time for beautiful pictures of a completed set up....but in the real world when your doing the whole event it doesn't quite work out that way. Plus when I arrived the client's husband was hanging a chandelier...right above the main dining table where the party was being held. When you are doing events you never know what to expect so just roll with the punches and make do. My favorite saying is adapt, adjust and overcome. The party turned out perfect despite minor setbacks.
Here is the dessert buffet.
I know it's a garden urn but it was on sale, it was black and it can hold ice... perfect ice cooler! It is on top of a box covered with fabric that I found on sale at Hobby Lobby for $2 a yard!! Yippee!!

I've seen a lot of beautiful dessert buffets out in blogland with all matching colors. However, sometimes I look at the actual food and think to myself.... I really wouldn't eat it. For instance, rock candy...it's beautiful and comes in all colors but it's pure sugar....I would not eat that! I definitely would not let Maddy eat it! So I really try to stock my dessert tables with foods that I would actually eat.

The L circles, water bottle labels, invitation and thank you notes are printables came from the most talented Carli from Dimpleprints. If you read my blog then you already know she is one of my go to girls. Her Etsy shop is amazing and she can whip up something fabulously custom as well!! Found the take home bags at World Market. I adore WM. If you want something unique for a get together ~ check out their food section. You can find the most amazing treats and items. It's amazing what a roll of ribbon can do.

I think my first attempt at chocolate dipped pretzel rods turned out pretty good. Watch out ya'll! The guests were mingling and getting ready to come sit down to eat...I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped about 20 photos in 15 seconds. I need my own paparazzi so I can have a photographer follow me. Thank God I've invested in a good camera...now only if I could learn what all the buttons are?? I used that same Hobby Lobby fabric and made a runner.

To coordinate everything I used matching ribbon and scrapbook paper. Do you see the ribbon I attached to the cupcake stand? (BTW, I got that glass cupcake stand at Goodwill for $5) I put it on top of a silver stand for added height.

I have used bottles or pacifiers to hold up my menus or buffet items for almost every baby shower. Why reinvent the wheel? It's cute and I can always find them to match my colors. I just get creative of what I fill my bottles with.

The menu consisted of:

Tuna on Rye

Chicken Salad on Sour Dough
Cucumber on Pumpernickel

Cranberries and Lemon Scones

White and Milk Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Chocolate/Lemon/Cherry/Pistachio Macaroons

Almond Poppy Seed muffins

Banana Nut muffins

I made everything except the macaroons and muffins. Aren't you proud of me? I'm a great cook but baking...not so much but the scones turned out perfect!!

I hope you notice that I used 2 sets of china. I really love mixing patterns of china on my tables. Plus, if you don't have enough of one set for a dinner party then just add another.

Made the place cards by using my CriCut...what did I do before I had one???

I used the home owner's buffet table for the tea buffet. The tea buffet consisted of 5 different types of teas, sugar cubes, Splenda, honey, milk, lemons and lemonade.

2 different size cake plates stacked on each other make a stand for the favors. Since I have no pic of the actual favor I will take a pic of one tomorrow and post.

Last Wednesday I was in my office working on my weekend parties. I had just finished the onesies name cards when I received an email from Theresa from Goosie Girl with pictures of her Game night. How ironic...the same exact color palette down to the polka dots! I'm loving the banner! Can you guess what her black stand are?? Spray painted Styrofoam...Oh, a girl after my own heart! I had more pictures loaded to blog from this wonderful soiree but got carried away with the delete button. It is 1:50 am here so I think I'm delirious!
