Alternatives to candy/dessert buffet

Candy and dessert buffets are very popular and have become a staple in weddings and parties. I don't see any signs of this trend slowing down. You can do so much with candy plus who doesn't love candy and an assortment of desserts?? It is so easy to coordinate with your color theme. However, it can be very expensive if you are trying to do a large scale one. There are a lot of other things you can do that will be just as creative and friendlier to the wallet.

I threw this pic in because I just thought it was a unique way of using candy in a wedding. A lollipop bouquet and a rock candy boutonniere.

A great alternative to a candy/dessert buffet is a popcorn buffet. It can be just as gorgeous. Plus popcorn comes in so many flavors and colors!! I use popcorn buffets a lot!!!

What about a cookie buffet? If you have talented baking friends...all the better!!

Great cookie display idea!

What about a donut buffet! When I was pregnant I put down dozens of Krispy Kreme donuts....mmmm warm tasty goodness!!

A candy apple buffet...especially great in the fall but could be used anytime! The possibilities are endless!

Have a great Super Bowl Sunday!!

  1. Love the alternatives to just candy. If you did the candy apple, do you do the caramel on all the apples before hand or just have melted caramel so they can dip their own? What other toppings would you have out?

  4. Wow! I've never been to anything that had any of these...not even a candy buffet (which I would love). I want to have a party just to do this!

  5. Love these ideas! A friend had a cookie bar at her wedding 7 years ago and I loved it! Tons of her family love to bake and making cookies gave them a chance to be involved in the wedding. Guests received custom boxes to fill with all the delicious cookies at the reception. .

  6. Just love the cookie bar at wedding idea...7 years ago??? see there is nothing new under the sun...we just keep repeating ourselves and calling it new when we do!
April, if I was doing a candy apple buffet I would just use and assortment of candy apples...some with carmel, carmel and nuts, m&ms, then apples with milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, coconut, candy sprinkles..etc. I think if you had them dip it --it would be way too messy. Plus the carmel needs to be a certain temp to work. BTW, I need your address to mail your Walmart gift card!!
