Paper Party Decor

I just have to share this story. My mom was an amazing decorator and event planner before there was the title "event planner". She was the original frugalista. Back then there weren't event planners to hire but my mom was the go-to person for weddings. She would work with all sorts of budgets and she was the MacGyver on making something from nothing!! I can remember making hundreds of paper flowers for weddings!! Now they are all the rage....thanks to Martha!!! We didn't know that we were so trendy!! (Even though that was over 25 years ago....I'm showing my age now)

So tonight I want to show paper products that would work for parties! I love to use paper because it comes in every color and pattern but mainly because it's cheap!! Make yourself think beyond what something is and create something wonderful. Hopefully, these "muses" will help generate some original creations!

I am so mad at myself for not writing down where I found this photo but it was the most creative and crafty wedding I have seen in a long time! I will do my best to find it again. In the meantime, I had to show you ....look at the bottom photo of her aisle decoration....what is it you ask??? The crafty bride used red cupcake liners to make the flowers!! Girl, I fell in love!
Have extra coffee filters laying around...how about staining them and making a garland. Never thought of this one. Thanks Once Wed! Another crafty idea using coffee filters and orange thumb tacks. Okay, I would never stick that many holes in my walls but you could use it for a backdrop behind a buffet table using foam board.

Don't throw away your Pringles cans people!! You can use them for a party favor. This one is obviously for Halloween but just change out the paper and ribbon, fill with whatever and viola an inexpensive favor plus you are recycling....can't beat that, right???

Can you believe that these are paper flowers!! Stunning! To be honest the ones we made didn't look this fabulous.

Yes, paper as well! Things that make you go, hmmmm.

Still working on my presentation for next week....you would think that I would be done, right??? I will try to post pics this week of the Breakfast at Tiffany's tablescape as well as another $ Day Creation. Thanks for all of the comments and emails...trust me I read and relish every word!

  5. Those last two pictures are really amazing. I want to make those! This reminded me of something from my childhood. One year...many moons ago...they made red kleenix. My mother and grandmother bought lots of boxes and made kleenix flowers for Christmas. I really need to ask my mom for the details on that one.
