Valentine's day is right around the corner. When I think of Valentine's - I think of mainly 4 C's - chocolate, candy, Cupid and candles. Here is a quick and easy project to personalize candles for your special date night or to give as gifts. Turn ordinary candles into glowing gifts by wrapping them in photos and text. To create the wrapping, tape tissue paper to a piece of cardstock and print with images and/or text. After printing, cut out the design and remove the tissue paper from the cardstock. Attach the printed tissue paper to a candle using straight pins and warm the design with a heat tool until the image sinks into the candle. (top image courtesy of BHG)
Step 1
Tear off a large piece of decorative tissue paper to cover the candle. Choose white candles and decorative tissue paper with a white background for best results. If using a colored candle, select colored tissue paper that's a lighter shade than the candle.
Step 2
Position the tissue paper against the candle as it should appear when the project is complete. Tightly wrap the wax paper around the tissue paper on the candle. Hold it in place with hand.
Step 3
Turn the blow dryer on hot or use heating tool. Aim it at the wax paper and watch the tissue paper beneath melt away. Stop heating tool once the tissue paper completely dissolves into the candle.
Step 4
Remove the wax paper. Embellish the candle with glass beads, glitter, satin ribbon around the base or any other decorative element.
They are gorgeous...but I think these are beyond my skill:)

Sue,
ReplyDeleteTrust me they are really easy to make. Just try to make the ones with the tissue paper....not the text and pics. Just wrap the tissue paper around candle then wrap wax paper around. Use your blow dryer or heating tool until you see the tissue paper "melt" in. It doesn't take long and it's super easy! GO get you a $ Tree white candle and try it!!
