Operation Shower Sunshine Safari Behind the Scenes

Today I want to share with you my behind the scenes photos of Operation Shower Sunshine Safari. Although, there are some beautiful pictures from the professional photographers, I want to share my view of the event. I loved being a part of something so special.

Operation Shower began in March 2007, when LeAnn Morrissey, looking for a way to give back to her uncle who was deployed overseas, was asked to send a card to 4 women who were expecting babies while their spouses were deployed. LeAnn decided to try to do much more for these families. She set out with family and friends to send a “shower in a box” to the four military families who were expecting babies while the husband was deployed. The overwhelming support she received putting these boxes together and the messages of thanks she received from these moms left her with little doubt that this was something worth doing — over and over again! She joined with Kris Jackson, to hold the first unit-wide shower at Ft. Bragg, NC in June 2007. From that point forward, they made it official and Operation Shower was born! Amazing! So many times people have an idea but never see it to fruition. Thank you LeAnn for blessing so many military families.
Project Nursery sponsored a very special photo booth area with photos by The Pixel Studio. All the mothers were able to take home a special "bump" photo. When I first saw this, I seriously had to fight back tears. It was so special and such a meaningful memory for these special women.
This soldier was getting ready to deploy.
The shower in full swing.
Shower event was filled with good food~ Carl's Jr was a sponsor!! YUMMY!
Sweets table by Sweets Indeed. Marie is AMAZING!! Plus all of the wonderful vendors who donated their delicious desserts!
Great speakers and entertainment.....oh my how did that get in there??
Aaron was amazing! He was the GO TO guy! He handled each problem with such calmness and kept an awesome and pleasant demeanor. Please if anyone with some power is reading this.....give this man a promotion!!
The beautiful women in the long dress is Amy Belle Isle, who is the founder of Stem Parties. Amy is the Chief Event Organizer of Operation Shower and is responsible for the awesome party planning related to the unit-wide showers and Operation Shower fundraisers. Words cannot express how much respect and admiration I have for Amy. She is sweet to the core and has such a giving heart. My love language (Gary Chapman's book 5 Love Languages - a must read) is Acts of Service so this is my kind of friend.
I love no matter how famous Jennifer of HWTM is~she got right down on the ground with the rest of us and worked so hard. She had just had a baby a few weeks earlier! Can't wait to see her television show.....I believe in the power of spoken word! When it happens, can I be a guest, or in the audience, bathroom attendant....something? The Safari shop~ this is just a portion of items donated by such generous donors!
Moms were treated with an amazing array of gifts.
Beautiful and talented Kim from The TomKat Studio with an emotional mommy overcome by receiving so many wonderful gifts from the amazing donors. BTW, I love having a famous friend!
It's amazing what one person's vision has accomplished! It is so easy to say we love the military and feel horrible when we hear of tragedies that happen to our service members daily. But what are you doing about it? Now that you know of this organization will you get involved? I love the fact that Operation Shower has a gift registry on Amazon making it so easy for all of us to get involved. You can also go to their website and give a donation. Many blessings my friends and continued prayers to all of our deployed service members and their families!
