Design on a Dime

I loved the show Design on a Dime on HGTV. I don't think it comes on anymore....what a shame! Anyhoo, I decided to call the series of updates on the party location Design on a Dime.

The new party location as it was....
Progress...you can still see a strip of the leftover blue color to the right of the door. It is amazing what a coat of paint can do! What color do you think I am painting the shutters and trim??? I hope to get the outside painting tomorrow. I already started prepping the inside for painting as well. Everything is getting painted!! Do you know a great way to get discount paint??? What do you think happens when contractors finish big projects and have a lot of leftover paint?? They sell it at a ridiculous markdown price. You can get 5 gallon buckets for around $25!! If you live in the Phoenix area- I will be happy to share my source! Also, check out Home Depot, Lowes, any hardware store for their oops paint. It is ususally only $5 for a gallon bucket. If you get lucky you will find the exact colors you want....and I'm such the lucky girl!!

  2. I cant wait to see the finished project. Do you have a Habitat for Humanity store in your area? They really have good stuff left over from houses that they build at really, really cheap prices. I purchased shutters for my house at $3 a piece! Not many people know about them.

Have fun making your dreams come true!

  3. I *love* HGTV but haven't watched many shows lately. We've been getting ready for "back to school" here on the East Coast.

My guess is BLACK for the shutters & trim. Can't wait to see an update. :)

  5. Looking great! You are so good a finding bargains and DIY projects. I on the other hand end up paying too much for people to do it for me. =)
