I love this pitcher. The lid also functions as a cup. Found this gem at Goodwill for $3.50. It looks like "vintage" Princess House -like my glasses. In hotels and cruise ships, I always love turn down service and look forward to getting my chocolate. So why not provide a little chocolate for your guests? Too me, it's just the little things that mean so much.

Prepping for my peeps
It's my birthday week!! Yippee!! I'm in full swing of getting my house cleaned and last minute preparations for my out of town family. Similar to my post regarding bathroom baskets for parties here, when I have out of town company; I like to put a toiletries basket in the bathroom. (Just like when you go to a hotel) It is inevitable that somebody will forget something and it makes it convenient for your guests. I know I always love grabbing the loot at the hotels (whether I need it or not). You pay enough for your room, right? So I fill up a basket with toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, lotion, mouthwash, Q-tips, sunscreen, etc... I just get the trial size of most items. Here is a picture of my guest bedroom nightstand. Every night before my guests go to bed, I like to provide cold water with lemon or citrus water. I will fill the vase with fresh flowers on Thursday. (I just love my purse vases- my sister Jackie is the one who got me started with them) Got the beautiful Princess House glasses from a yard sale. The lady I bought them from got them for her wedding over 35 years ago. I love it when you know the history of your items.
that even beats martha stewart because it's real. i live in phoenix too, and i'm tempted to invite myself over just so i can get the royal treatment!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a thoughtful hostess and this is such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to come to your house! We rarely have overnight guests. My parents were the only ones that really came to stay any length of time. The first time, I did the basket with goodies, the flowers etc. and my mom moved everything out to make more room for her stuff! I gave up doing the bedroom and bathroom and I just try to make sure I have the rest of the house pretty:)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great birthday week -- it looks like you're slated to have a wonderful birthday Saturday. My mother's birthday was August 6th and she used to celebrate all month long! :) How thoughtful of you to pamper your houseguests and I share your sentiment. There's nothing more comforting than to wake up in the middle of the night and have the niceties of home. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow! I usually provide my guests with an apology for the noise and the mess that comes with five kids, three big dogs, and two cats! :-)
