Goody never disappoints!

When I was growing up my mom used to always go to Salvation Army to find bargains. She called it Sally's. I was mortified and so embarrassed to be in there~what if somebody saw me?? My mother always would tell me~if they see you in here that means that they are in here too, right? We weren't poor so in my little young mind why did we need to go to Sally's? Boy, do I really wish my mom was alive to see me now. My thrift store of choice is Goodwill and I call it Goody's. She would be proud that she instilled in me such a strong sense of frugality and giving is better than receiving spirit.
I was planning on totally splurging on my Breakfast at Tiffany's birthday brunch this year but now with the renovations and opening of the store~I am counting every penny. LITERALLY! Today's hunt ~ I was looking for some china saucers and candlesticks so I could make cupcake holders which is all the rage now. Similar to a cake plate just smaller to hold one cupcake. The colors I was looking for was Tiffany Blue and fuchsia which are my colors for my birthday small brunch. I really thought I would find a mix of patterns with the colors~to my surprise I found all matching saucers and plates as well. They actually had a set of 12 but I only needed 6~I hated to break up the family.
To make it even better ~there was a 50 percent off special for week 28 today. All my stuff was week 28! I'm such the lucky girl! So I got the saucers for 49 cents each and the plates for 99 cents each. You can not even rent a dish for that price definitely not china!
EEEEEKKKKK ~I could not have found a better match!! I was planning on spray painting the bases that I found, 3 fuchsia and 3 Tiffany Blue but I really like the crystal with these saucers, don't you? So 3 down 3 more to go~ I will hit another Goody's tomorrow and I'm sure to find 3 more "crystal like" candlesticks that will work. I love how they turned out.
The below Tiffany mini cake is how mine will look. I have a fabulous pastry chef so I have no doubt she will completely pull this off. My mini cakes are going to be Red Velvet~my personal favorite. This mini cake was done by The Cake Girls~Chicago. Then I found these absolutely GORGEOUS Tiffany cupcakes. Aren't they just darling??? OH my, actually all of Cakes by Lorinda are beautiful!

I'm really missing you today mom.
