I was teenager of the 80s and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it to this day. So last year for my birthday, I had a small group of my friends over to relive the 80s~attire and all!!
I wanted to do Neon (obliviously the colors of that time) but didn't want it to be tacky!
You know I am a frugalista so my centerpieces were glass vases from Dollar Tree filled with water and drops of neon acrylic paint and Dollar Tree flowers.
The chargers were albums I got from Goodwill and found the fab plates as well!! Who would get rid of those??? I'm a lucky girl!! Notice the napkin ring was a Ring Pop!
I put the menu on the album "charger".
Used cassettes as name cards. This took many coats of neon spray paint but I really like how it turned out. Cassettes found at Goodwill.
I always have some sort of dessert, candy or popcorn table at my parties..this one was a combo of all three. I really loved my Rubix cube cake!!
Every year I have a birthday party for myself. Sometimes huge and sometimes only a few of my girlfriends. No one is allowed to bring gifts...it is my time to give out the gifts for my love and appreciation for the special people in my life.
So here is where you come in my lovelies~ what theme should I do this year? I had Maddy's theme picked out 6 months ago.
I was thinking either Breakfast at Tiffany's or Mad Hatter Tea Party (thanks to my neighbor). I have seen both done around blogland but of course would put my spin on things.
So please comment and let me know which one you think would be cooler or if you have a party suggestion that you would just like to see instead please tell me. THANKS!!
Wow! I haven't had Pop Rocks in a while. I love your non-tacky 80's theme. I found it is helpful to plan the parties way in advance like you do. I vote for the Breakfast at Tiffany's theme for the next one. :)
ReplyDeleteI also vote for Breakfast at Tiffany's. I can definitely see you rocking that theme! Love Tiffany blue, too.
ReplyDeleteI love a good 80's party...very fun!

Cute party. I love throwing parties for myself and I want noone to bring gifts as well. I love Tiffany's and the movie is one of my all time favorites. As a matter of fact this was my theme for my bridal shower. So I guess you know my vote. Breakfast at Tiffany's. I'm sure whatever you do, it will be great!
ReplyDeleteI also just adore the 80's what a fun party theme! It was great to meet you in person this weekend. You are just as lovely in person as on your blog:)
ReplyDeletePop Rocks! I loved those as a kid/teen! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I ♥ your party theme! I am new to blogging and would love to hear what you learned at the conference! I hope to make it to conference this year or 2011!
