If you have read my bio then you know that I am a retired Marine with 21 years of active duty service. What you may not know is that I am also a Gulf veteran. I know from first hand experience how hard it is to leave your family and go to a place unknown. My last year in the military before retirement, my next door neighbor Emma was just a few months pregnant when her husband was deployed. Emma has a beautiful (at the time) 2 1/2 year old little girl. Emma was such a trooper but I can't imagine all of the loneliness and pain that she experienced whenever she wasn't putting on such a brave face for all of us in the neighborhood.
I am humbled by the wonderful things that Operation Shower is doing for our military families. Amy at Stem is the Chief Event Planner for such a worthy cause. Operation Shower is a 501(c)3 charity that provides "baby showers in a box" to expectant moms who have spouses deployed in the military. Please let us make a difference and go to her blog here and website to help this wonderful cause.
It's so easy to say let's bring our troops home and to want the war to end but are we doing anything to help those who are left behind?
What a wonderful post and such great information for those of us that have no idea of such a service. Thanks!
