Sweetheart Cookie Box

I am making conversation heart cookies for Valentines and I ran across this adorable Sweetheart Cookie Box from Zakka Life! Love! Now I have a great way to store and give them out!
I love free templates!
I never thought of thought of taking a box like the one above and turning it inside out, re-glue and use it! Pure genius!!! Window already done as well!
You can either paint or use cardstock to cover the plain cardboard. Painting is faster but the cardstock would be prettier. Whichever you choose it will simply be amazing.

I took a TON of pictures from the Operation Shower event that I participated in. I started posting many of them on Facebook and I will also do a post hopefully tomorrow as well.

New Superhero Valentine's

DIY Heart Chair Backer

I LOVE this heart chair backer by Pottery Barn Kids!! I mean ....LOVE!!!!
So this was the muse for me when I spotted this pretty heart foam while in Dollar Tree one day.
I bought an additional piece of foam and traced the heart shape and cut it out. I hot glued around the edges to put the 2 pieces together. I glued red ribbon to the back to attach it to a chair. So simple and took less than 5 minutes!
Viola...my DIY Heart Chair Backer! I think it is adorable and it cost me less than $2!

It has a nice size pocket so you can put in all your Valentine's and goodies!
Now, I'm thinking I really need to have a Valentine's playdate for Madison's BFF's! I'm always looking for reasons for a party and to make my little one's day just a little extra special!

Superhero Party Ideas

I haven't given up on my Superhero theme party yet! I keep finding awesome muses to feed into my wanting this party theme!! Found this wedding over at Green Shoes Weddings! A wedding~yes, how cool must this couple be! Above is their place card table but what I'm loving is the backdrop on chalkboard so easy to recreate for a kiddos party!! Chalkboard paint makes it EASY PEASY!
How about personalizing straws and Superhero Pez dispensers! LOVE!!
However, my favorite is the CEREAL buffet. (You know I did this after a night of camping in the backyard with Maddy and her besties here)
Every Superhero party must have capes! A must have photo booth accessory! So I have figured out how I can get to do my theme after all!! Madison starts kindergarten in the Fall so guess what???? PARTY for all of the "superheroes" going to Kindergarten! YIPPEE!!!!

Barbie Party

So if you follow me on Facebook then you know my little one has chosen My Little Pony for theme for her birthday party. As much as I tried to persuade her she is not changing her mind so the days of me picking the theme has truly come to an end! I was hoping for one more year! She also informed me that she wants a princess party! WHAT???? My business does princess theme parties at least 2-3 times a month. Then I realized that she has never had a princess party and she watches me prepare for them all the time. So I promised her to do a princess theme Easter party this year. Of course, I don't want to do my package party because I want to step outside the box. As I was looking for some inspiration for her party, I ran across this really cute Barbie theme party by Cupcake Express.

Ashley found this cute trunk at Ross for $10 and used it to hold her candy kabobs...to cute!

What little girl would not love this cake? The great thing is that you can get them made at most grocery stores to save you some mula!

Ashley had these wafer papers custom created. I love using wafer papers because I cannot make beautiful baked goods but wafer papers make decorating cookies custom and gorgeous! Plus they are cheaper than custom cookies.

Love all the crepe paper medallions and the gable boxes with the favors! If you are using paper plates~ it's cute to double like having a charger!

Operation Shower Sunshine Safari

I am very excited to announce that I will be participating in the next Operation Shower event in San Diego in a couple of weeks. Operation Shower is such a wonderful organization and having served in the military for 21 years~I'm so happy to finally be able to participate in some way! Operation Shower is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide joyful baby showers for military families to ease the burden of deployment. Ten party bloggers/designers have been chosen to participate in a designer tablescape event sponsored by Pottery Barn Kids. We will be using products from Pottery Barn Kids as well as designs by paper and cake. I am very excited to be a part of this event as well as meeting all of the talented designers. I will be sharing more information and pictures before, during and after the event.

I was reading that some of my party peeps have enlisted the help of talented vendors to help with their vision..I'm going solo with my DIY projects....so hopefully I won't embarrass myself being around such talented and amazing party peeps!

I always love to see what inspires people or one's "muse" come to fruition! I get inspired by things everyday and love to see all of the talented and creative people's point of view. Case in point~Valentine Sweet Heart by Kikki K was the muse for the talented mom Leoni of Just Call Me Martha.

I am in total love with her use of envelopes as the backdrop for her dessert table. They are so inexpensive to use and can be used over again. Let's face it what is more romantic than love letters!

I am in seriously swooning over this cake!! I love the bunting! It's actually edible paper hearts.

Sugar cookies wrapped like love letters with edible paper stamp.....EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!!

Leoni used stickers from the collection to create the cupcake toppers.

Favors had chocolate hearts inside white take out boxes.

Love that one red envelope on backdrop....such attention to detail!

Penguins & Polar Bears Winter Onederland Party

For my first party feature of the new year I could not have picked a more perfect and ADORABLE one. Mariah from Giggles Galore created this amazing Penguins & Polar Bears Winter Onederland for her nephew. Mariah always has such wonderful parties with attention to detail that is impeccable.

Loving these cookies and the cool color scheme.

Did you know penguins are all the rage this season? Yep....it's the "it" theme right now! Last year it was owls.....oh I wish I could predict what it will be next year so I could be a trend-setter!

Easy Pasta Salad

I was contacted by the California Black Olive Company to see if I was interested in posting a recipe using black olives. I love olives and will eat them right out of the can. However, I have a super, duper, quick and easy pasta recipe. It is so simple even I can't mess it up. I am not one of those cooks who measures things (that's why I can't bake) but this recipe you really can't mess up.

All you need is~

4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, cooked and cut into bite size pieces

Box of 3 color pasta, cooked and cooled

1 can California black olives (I cut them in half)

1 jar marinated artichoke hearts, cut up (I actually use 2 jars...I love artichokes)

1 small bottle Kikkoman teriyaki sauce

1 small bottle of Italian dressing

optional ~ 2 red, yellow or green (any mixture) peppers, cut up (I didn't use this time)

It's an all in one bowl type recipe! Just mix pasta, chicken, olives, artichoke hearts and salad dressing together. Add teriyaki (and peppers) to taste. I actually used a half bottle of the Italian dressing and a half bottle of the teriyaki. Add more teriyaki and/or Italian dressing to taste. Toss well and serve. SO yummy! So Easy!
How about making some for New Year's....get all fancy and put it in a martini glass and garnish with an olive!

New Year's Eve with Kiddos

I'm quite the boring one when it comes to NYE. I have so many parties all year round that this is one night I honestly don't do anything. I can't remember the last time I was even awake at midnight on New Year's Eve. Lame, I know! However, I was thinking of "pretending" (like at 7 pm~LOL) it is midnight so I can have a little celebration with my hubby and Madison. I've always like the clock cookies but found some other cute kiddo ideas on Family Fun.
Kids can toast the New Year with a cute bubbly Jell-O parfait.

How cute are these chocolate covered ice cream cones as New Year's Eve party hats? The kids can help make them then fill with ice cream to eat! For those of you with little kids, what do you do on New Year's Eve?

Old School with a Twist!

When I was growing up, every party my mom had she served deviled eggs. My mom had tons of special deviled egg plates for every holiday and occasion. I hardly ever see them anymore! Deviled eggs are easy and inexpensive to make so why not bring them back with a twist? Of course, I love interactive stations at parties~ they are fun for your guests...(not to mention they cater to your guests specific taste buds) but stations are easy for you to prepare and maintain as well. So why not try a DIY Deviled Egg Bar at your next soiree?

Suggested Toppings: chopped cooked bacon, smoked salmon, chopped black olives, chopped Spanish olives, sour cream, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, and chopped fresh herbs (dill, parsley, chives cilantro), cheddar cheese, cooked baby shrimp, cooked crab meat, chopped ham, and roasted red peppers.

Carnival Party

I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas!! I certainly did! Santa was very good to me and Madison! I ended up taking the day off and not posting the winner of the iTunes gift card...well it is LaToya ~ Congrats....you won a $50 gift card my friend!! Well, one of Santa's gifts to me was a new camera!! Yippee! Now maybe I can take better photos of my events! (Once I learn to use it properly) Here is a Carnival party sweets table that I did a few weeks ago for a 9 year old girl. As you know my company does the whole party and I have usually only 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours for complete set up. (a sweet table is included in every party but is only one aspect of the party)
These photos were all taken before topper was on cake...bummer! Anyhoo, I love the classic red & white carnival prints that are easily found. However, just add a few fresh spins on things and it will make your event memorable!
I am a huge believer in asking stores for display items. Many times these items just get discarded so why not ask? The worst they can say is no, right. SO if you see something that you like in a store that is being used for decor or display....ask. I got the red and white striped boxes that the marshmallow pops are in from Dollar Tree.
I already showed you my clown cake pops on Facebook from my cake pop diva Jen. To display them, I used Dollar Tree party hats that I covered in red wrapping paper and glued on white pom poms for buttons.
The cupcake toppers are Meri Meri Circus. Cupcake liners were also included in the package but when you are short on time some things you just don't have time to include. These are so adorable!
All of the food labels were custom designed by Trinity St Studio on Etsy. Mary is super easy to work with and her designs are fresh and simply beautiful! Click on her link to check out her designs!
I love using cones in displays but realistically they don't work for some food items. Cotton candy is one of them. Unless eaten right way cotton candy shrinks and gets hard. For this display, I put the cotton candy and the circus peanuts in Zip Loc bags and used double stick tape to secure red & white striped paper for topper.
We had to move the party indoors 2 days before the party due to forecasted weather conditions so all of the plans and entertainment had to be changed at last minute. I ended up securing a wonderful magician and indoor animal show last minute! The birthday girl loved it and gave me the biggest hug! I'm such the lucky girl!

As you know I'm a party planner so today was a work day for me so I'm sorry not to post new 4th day of Christmas. So I will play catch up and post 2 days.

On the 4th Day of Christmas, Maddycakes gave to me another dozen of cakepops!

I see that it is quite popular (as should be) so we will give out some more. Check out the cakepops that Jen from Heavenly Cakepops made for a Circus theme party I had today. Don't you love?? I put the clown cakepops in a party hat (from Dollar Tree~ it had balloons all over it). I covered in red wrapping paper then glued on white pom poms for clown's buttons.

For the 5th Day of Christmas, Maddycakes gave to me, $25 gift certificate from Dollar Tree. You know I love me some Dollar Tree! I get so many party "muses" when I hit those aisles! You know you can get a lot with this gift certificate!

Can you believe that it is only 12 days until Christmas??? This has been an amazing year and I am so blessed that my job is what I love and my passion. I have been so busy that I went from blogging almost every day last year to much less this year. I am finding that I can link onto many of "muses" so much faster using Facebook. I'm grateful for all of you that chat with me on a regular on FB. There are a lot of changes with my party planning business that has happened in recent months but I embrace change~change is constant for growth. There will be changes to the blog in the new year so stay tuned.

Halo Party

Last Sunday, Maddycakes had a Halo party for an 11 year old birthday boy. I have had the family for clients for 3 years now (they have 3 kids) and I now feel like part of the family! This birthday boy always challenges me because he is a lover of video games and I have never played any! Remember his Super Mario party last year? This year he wanted a Halo theme....huh? I had no idea what Halo was. The first thing I do is go to "Gaming" store and look at the game to see what muses I can get from it. When I saw that it was basically a military video game I knew that I was fine! (You all know I'm a retired Marine!)

If you are having any theme party go through your house and collect any toys related to the theme and use them in your decor. Here is a Halo toy being used on the entrance table.

I got a huge surprise when I got to the home this year. I usually set up in their game room but it had been converted to the master suite so what I had in mind for set up had to be changed. I ended up setting up in the dining room but the backdrop I had created for behind the sweets table was too big to fit in the niche. Oh well, one thing I have learned from doing weekly parties at client's homes~with only 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour set up time and multiple variables that change what you had in mind....just go with the flow and make it work! At least the painting colors work with the red flowers in my ammo can centerpiece!

I used my camouflage tents to hold mini whoopie pies and brownies.

You can embellish any cake with theme figurines to dress it up.

Using another toy as a centerpiece on the table. I got the camouflage overlay from Oriental Trading.

I purchased MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) from the Base to use as additional decor. Then let the birthday boy and friends try them. You could get these from a military surplus store as well.

Then I made my version of MREs by wrapping boxes in camouflage patterned duct tape. You can find Duct tape in any color and so many patterns! Easy to do!

The party favors were mini ammo cans filled with a smore's pack with a custom tag. I will show you more details on this in another post. I painted the kids faces in a camouflage pattern to get them ready for war! We had the Game Truck again this year. The kids had a Halo tournament. It was such a hit. I wonder what theme this young man will challenge me with next year?

I am going to a Christmas cookie exchange party tomorrow and was looking for something different and easy to take this year. I stumbled across these ADORABLE reindeer cookies. Madison is in love with Rudolph this year so I know she will love helping momma with these.

Love the reindeer noses~of course you have to have Rudolph's nose too! These would be so cute as party favors or just little gifts/stocking stuffers for some special kiddos in your life. Made with 8 malted milk balls and a red gumball.

Madison had breakfast with Santa at her school. I set up a mini sweets table for the event. I wanted to use the colors red and white in keeping with Santa's suit as well as treats be theme related. I bought 2 yards of velvet material and hot glued white marabou around bottom to make the tablecloth.
My camera decided to die so used my IPhone for pics but I think they turned out great!

I had bought some Christmas Candyland printables from Bird's Party last year and didn't get the chance to use them. So used a few of them for this party. However, I'm doing a Gingerbread House decorating play date for Madison next week so you will be seeing more of Bird's Party fabulous printables then!
When I saw these North Pole cupcakes on someone's blog...sorry I totally forgot where I first saw them....I knew that I had to do them. My BFF Jen (Heavenly Cake Pops) made the cookies, cupcakes and Santa Hats) She is the best....I come up with ideas, send them her way and she nails them every time!!! Her creations are always perfect and yummy!!

I can only dream of one day making cookies this beautiful! I am doing cookie decorating with Jen this year so maybe some of her talent will rub off on me!

The countdown is on for getting all of your Christmas gifts ready! I have so many jars left from Madison's birthday party that I plan on using them for packaging Christmas gifts and favors. Here are a few ideas in case you are looking for nice homemade gifts to give out this year. How creative is this everything in a jar from The Gunny Sack? I'm thinking this would be perfect for a teacher's gift.

I did the Bakerella version of Cowgirl/Cowboy cookies for Madison's birthday party this year. I am really liking this version of Cookies for Santa by Calli from Make It Do.

I'm doing a hot cocoa bar at my annual Christmas ornament and cookie exchange party this year so think this will be an awesome favor to give out. Peppermint stick cocoa from Sunset.

I love the use of the milk bottle for this one but quart size Mason jars work too. I love homemade bread...I pretty much love anything homemade! Quick bread in a bottle from Sunset.

Christmas Book Advent Calendar and More

Tomorrow the month of December begins, along with one of my favorite holiday traditions: the advent calendar. Although the advent calendar that I remember as a child from an awesome teacher in elementary school will always remain my ideal; I have incorporated various ways to help my little one count down to Christmas. My newest way was inspired by a wonderful and talented blogger Allison from Oopsey Daisy. I met her here in Phoenix this year at Creative Estates. I read books to Madison every night before bed so the idea of reading a different Christmas story every night to count down the days to Christmas was right up my alley!

I wrapped each Christmas book and attached a numbered tag on for the days. Allison also incorporated an activity to do each day related with the daily book but I'm not that prepared this year. Maybe next year~a girl can have a dream right?

I don't own 24 Christmas books so I went out today to used book stores and thrift stores to buy more. I also went to the library to borrow Christmas books too . The library books aren't due back until December 20th so that works. We will read the library books first. Of course, I will read Twas The Night Before Christmas on December 24th!

Another way I count down the days is with our Kurt S. Adler Snoman Advent calendar. Madison is old enough now to understand this tradition and can put the ornaments on the tree each day. I also will put a small treat inside the box to make it extra special.

Lastly, we have the Eric Carle's Dream Snow Pop Up Calendar. This is new this year too so I'm looking forward to Madison opening up a window each day to add a new decoration to this wonderful pop up scene.

I think I have enough ways to help with the question ~is it Christmas yet? What do you do to count down the days until Christmas?

Kid's Thanksgiving Table~ Turkey Cups

I got these autumnal feathers from JoAnn's for $1.99. I really wanted to use them somehow for a turkey. Well, I have tons of google eyes left from Madison's Halloween monster party so I came up with these turkey cups.
Just glued the feathers on the outside back of cup, added the eyes and felt mouth. Easy! I think it's cute! Gobble, Gobble...today is the 3rd day of our kiddo Thanksgiving table. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve so see you tomorrow. I will start assembling the table as well.

Kid's Thanksgiving Table~ Turkey Placemats

I am right smack in the middle of renovations on my home....who does that the week before Thanksgiving? My house is completely torn up. Not to mention I am having a baby shower for my sweet assistant Sarah on Saturday. Crazy I know but that's how I normally roll. Any who, I was on Lowe's Creative Ideas to get some house decor muses when I spotted this "muse". You can get inspiration from anywhere! Turkey place mats to add to our kiddos Thanksgiving table.

You need cork contact paper~I got mine at Walmart (a big roll only a few dollars)

Turkey Placemat download here I should have traced on the back of cork contact paper so you wouldn't see any marker. I will for my next 4. It does roll up a lot but remember when it's time to use you can peel and stick right in place.

I'm off to finish my other 4. I will be back tomorrow for another daily DIY project for the Kid's Thanksgiving table.

Kid's Thanksgiving Table~ Chalkboard Place Cards/Treat Holder

This week I'm posting a project a day to complete a tablescape for a kid's Thanksgiving table. I am so excited to have so many of my family members coming in for Thanksgiving. I don't have enough room at the dining room table for all of the kids so want to make their table really decorative and fun!! I created this dual purpose place card and crayon holder. This would be great for the younger set to keep them occupied for a while. I bought small terra cotta pots from Dollar Tree (3 for a dollar). I painted them with chalkboard paint, wrote names with chalk and filled with crayons. Easy Peasy!!

If you have older kids that are past the crayon stage then fill with a treat. All kids love treats no matter what age! Do a project a day with me this week and by this weekend you will have a completed Thanksgiving kid's table.

Bread Cornucopia Centerpiece

Need a unique centerpiece for this Thanksgiving? How about making a bread cornucopia? I made one years ago and I'm going to revisit it again this year. It is really easy to make with refrigerated dough cut into strips. Taste of Home has the 411 here. (you could also use tin foil shaped like a cone instead of a disposable pizza pan) It can be made a few days ahead and it is edible! I will keep you posted on mine this year.
Starting tomorrow I will add a project a day or two for a kid's Thanksgiving table. By the end of the week we will have completed a whole kiddo Thanksgiving tablescape that they will gobble up!

Seriously how can it be November already? I am in hyperdrive to get my house ready for my visiting Thanksgiving out of town family. I have parties the first 2 weeks of November but then taking last couple weeks to dedicate time for family. I have been looking in blogland for decor ideas for my home and came across this Scrabble wall art. My mother loved Scrabble so this really brought good memories. Unfortunately, Madison's playroom walls are FULL but could work in other rooms with different words. (maybe a laundry room??) If you would love to recreate here is the tutorial by Attempting Aloha. Happy Halloween! Here are some pics of Madison's monster party. Unfortunately didn't have a photographer (last minute emergency) ~ thank the Lord I took photos with my IPhone while I was setting up or I wouldn't have anything to show you! Here is the wreath on my front door. I used a printable from my printable party package from Dimpleprints to put in the middle of wreath.

I am in love with these monster cakepops from Lizzy Sweets N' Treats. Remember the invitation? Well, I told Liz that I wanted those monsters copied and boy did she deliver!

Used the Wilton mold and made monster toes....ssssssshhhh the kids didn't know the candy mold is for witches fingers!

Like my eyeball stand? It's a candy bowl that I found at CVS.

I know blogging 101 never put a bad picture on your blog. But in real life things aren't perfectly staged or executed so I always just go with the flow. This is the only shot I got of the whole dessert table and it's a blurry mess but I hope you get the general idea of actual set up.

It was a pumpkin carving party but this is what my daughter was doing while everyone else was carving and painting pumpkins. So her dad carved and painted the pumpkin solo this year.

Oreo Eyeball

Here is a sneak peek of Madison's Monster Bash Dessert table. You know I love a theme party! I made Oreo eyeballs. So simple to do. I used CandiQuik~ I love this product because it comes in it's own tray and melts so evenly and quick. However, almond bark or white chocolate would do as well. Dip your Oreos in candy coating then put on wax paper. I used the gummy Life Savers and some fondant eyes that I had. If you don't have any fondant eyes...(who really does??) you could use mini chocolate chips turned upside down. I put in refrigerator for a few minutes to set. Quick and easy but I think their really cool! The party is tonight so must get a move on.

Life Size Monster!!

Madison's Halloween Pumpkin Carving Party is Friday! This time of year is extremely busy for Maddycakes but I don't want to neglect my own child's party!! So I am knee deep in party prep this week! Here is the invite created by my talented and sweet friend Carli from DimplePrints. This was in her Etsy shop as a birthday party printable but I had her custom it for a Halloween party. When I got the party printable package I was floored. I have never gotten so many printables in a party package!!! I wanted to make a life size monster for party decor and a photo backdrop. I don't have a lot of time so I wanted it to be easy and quick to do.
I bought 2 yards of furry red fabric from Hobby Lobby and used my invitation as my muse! I turned the fabric to the back size and used a fabric marker to free hand draw the monster. The great thing about monsters...they don't have to be exact or pretty! I used felt for the yellow dots, mouth and pupil. I used white foam core as the eyeball. To stick on wall I used 3M removable strips and duck tape to stick on the felt and foam core.
The monster is over 5 feet tall! I think he is so cute!
It makes a big impact on the wall. Madison loves it!! Not sure if I'm going to add more....any suggestions?? See that wrinkled green thing on chair?? Well, I will be tackling that today and will share with you later!

Friday Feature Party~ Happy Owl-O-Ween Part 2

This part 2 only took a year to post! :) Happy Owl-O-Ween was the theme for Madison's Halloween pumpkin carving party last year. If you missed the pictures from the dessert table I created then click here.
The craft activity was making owl necklaces. Each child got to pick out their glass owl.
Stringing their beads...the kids really enjoyed this activity.
Madison wearing her owl necklace she made. When Madison laughs really hard she makes this scrunch face! I love it! She has been doing it since she was a baby. This is why I do what I do....it makes it all worth while!
Every Halloween party I make Mummy dogs for the kiddos. Kids love them and they are so easy to make. I made chili and corn casserole for the parents and served in cauldrons.
The main activity is carving and painting pumpkins.
The favor tote bags I found at Forever 21 for only $1.50. You never know what you may find~always keep your eyes open for things that can work for your theme parties.
They where filled with various Halloween items.
So Madison's Halloween party this year is Monsters. (party is next Friday night) I'm really slacking on the preparations but will get busy today. So stay tuned!

Crafty Kids Halloween Party Ideas

I really love everything that Lisa Storms comes up with....Lisa can we be friends? So no surprise that she would come up with adorable stuff for a kiddos Halloween party. Don't you just love the sand witches? Lisa used a border and cut out the boots....the boots look like R's to me so if you don't have that border punch I think that it would work.

So simple but so cute.

Not only do I love the spider plate but the spider web on the table. Could just use masking tape.

I love handmade...DIY crafty party creations! It is just so unique and creative. Currently, I have 7 custom parties on my plate. That is probably more than I should have taken on. Especially since they are all in the next 2 months! My head was spinning so I took a few days off from any party planning. Since Madison's Monster Mash is next Friday, I need to get started on more DIY projects. I will be posting them to Facebook starting this afternoon.

Tuesday Transformation~DIY make your own Halloween dinnerware

I love transforming every party and holiday into a theme. However, I don't like the expenses it can bring by the ever changing themes! I LOVE holiday dishes but don't like the cost either. I love the Halloween tablescape done by Brooklyn Limestone. She used inexpensive plates and transformed them to fit her theme.

How cool is using The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe as a theme for a Halloween party/tablescape?

I really love how she did the poem on the dinnerware with the raven on another piece.

Gotta love the old typewriter so perfect for this theme. Use what you own!

Sliding Caramel Apples

Every Fall my mother and I would make caramel apples. Not from scratch but she used the caramel apple wraps. I really didn't know there was any other way. LOL However, I want to carry on this tradition with Madison but try a semi-homemade version. Plus I wanted to make some for Madison's Halloween party but wanted to test them out before the party.

So for my first time- we made caramel apples from bag of caramels melted in microwave with 2 tablespoons of milk. Madison loved dipping the apples into the caramel and putting on the M&Ms.

However, the caramel started to slide off. I put 2 in the refrigerator to stop the sliding process.

Madison was very proud of her creations. The caramel stayed on the ones in the refrigerator better. The ones left out almost completely slid of. I don't remember this happening with the caramel wraps! The bag made 5 caramel apples for us. A whole caramel apple is way too much for my little one to eat. So I've decided to do the mini caramel apples for the party. I feel this is much better for the little ones. If you have had much success with mini caramel apples please give me the 411!

Monster Mania~Make Your Own Monsters

So your having a monster party....what can you do with the kiddos? How about make your own monster treats? What kid wouldn't love to decorate their own monster rice krispies...then eat it?

Last week I saw candy buttons on sale at CVS and didn't get them. I couldn't think what I could use them for. Hello....they are perfect for eyes ~ why didn't I think of that. I hope there are some left and still on sale!

This activity and treat is so easy to do...make pan of rice krispies. Then the kiddos can cut shapes using cookie cutters and decorate with icing and candies.

I don't know the ages of the kids who made these treats...they are gorgeous. I know my 4 year old and her friends creations won't quite look this way but they will be masterpieces in their own right! (source)

Boo Baskets

I created 4 of these Boo baskets to give out this year~2 for Madison's teachers and 2 for neighbors. Madison only has 2 teachers this year...unlike last year she had 5! I found the Boo baskets at Target. I like giving out "treats" for every holiday to people who are so involved in our lives to let them know how much I appreciate them. These would also be great for "You've been boo'd" baskets especially since there is already the word Boo right on the basket.

Friday Feature Party~ Cake Boss

I am seriously in LOVE with this Cake Boss party. First of all, I'm loving the theme....Cake Boss! I had on my summer list to have a cooking party....never happened but Jen from Passion for Parties~you have given me another reason that I must have a cooking party! I love how she converted this hutch into a bake shop display!

Look closer....on top I see Dollar Tree glass candlestick holders with flowers made from cupcake liners...love, love, love.

Of course the girls had to decorate a cake....this is a Cake Boss party after all!

Each girl got their own personalized banner for their cakes.

My favorite thing from the party are these ADORABLE aprons that Jen made. She has never sewn before but made these ruffles. What??? Maybe there is hope for me. The girls could pick which patterns they wanted and the apron had Velcro strips so all girls had to do was stick them on! Genius!

Jen also personalized chef hats and the girls made their own cupcake liner flower to attach to it.

The cake stands were made using spray painted Dollar Tree glass candlestick holders with a white plate glued on top. This party is full of activities and tutorials so do yourself a favor and head on over here. Amazing job Jen...plus you really made this party affordable ...just a some DIY time!

I got these canvas prints from Big Lots for $3. Wasn't a fan of the leaf picture but knew I could use them for something. I especially loved that the size was 12 X 12 (being a scrapbooker!) After some thought I decided to make my version of a canvas print.

Here is the back - I love canvas prints but they are so expensive!

I used flat black spray paint and spray painted the sides and around the top edge a little.

I enlarged some photos of Madison and converted them to black and white~printed them at Sam's for about $2 a picture.

Used a piece of 12 X 12 scrapbook paper to see where I should cut my photo. Originally, I was going to use Mod Podge to put on the back and front of photo. Then I changed my mind and just used spray adhesive on the back. I love Mod Podge and even though it dries clear it does leave a texture and I didn't want that for these particular photos. Either way would work though- just whatever is your preference.

Now you see why I spray painted the sides? I love how they turned out and less than $6 a picture! LOVE!

Decorating with Pumpkins

It is easy to decorate with pumpkins for Fall. They are so versatile and you can use real or artificial ones. I love Southern Living's ways to decorate pumpkins. I love using pumpkins on buffet table for displaying food.

My new favorite way to decorate pumpkins this year is using tacks.....LOVE!

Using flowers is my second favorite. I have tried everything to bling up pumpkins for parties and decor. I will add these to my list.

Friday Feature Party~Carnival

As you know I love real parties more than parties that are designed or styled for photographs. Don't get me wrong, I love to look at them but realistically I love it when I see a mom put her heart, love and time in making a special memory for her children. I have been blog friends with Melissa since she sent me her first party even before she had a blog. Melissa from Buckets of Grace is a phenomenal woman~she works full time as a lawyer and is an incredible mommy to her 2 children. Her parties and holiday events are nothing short amazing! Her blog is full of creative ideas and I just love her although we have never met!

Her latest carnival party for her son Ethan is a show stopper!

I love this Ferris wheel cake topper that she got during Easter -made for dying eggs- but she spray painted it to match colors and added blue gumballs. I am so mad because I saw this same thing on sale at Jo Ann's at the end of the season on clearance and had the same idea to use as Ferris wheel but didn't get it due to having no need for it. Wouldn't you know it - I just got booked for a custom circus/carnival party! Can I borrow yours Melissa?

Props for the photo booth. Melissa is money conscious like me so she makes a lot of her party decor items herself.

My favorite and one that I WILL copy is the ticket booth made out of a refrigerator box. This party is broken down in many posts due to so many pictures and details so you must go to her blog to check them out!

Dyed Doily Trend

If you follow party blogs then you know there is a huge use of doilies in party design. I love this trend because you can get doilies so cheap from dollar stores and you can dye them to match your party colors. I love using them as banners...easy and makes a big impact.

How do you dye white paper doilies you ask?? Easy... just fill a bowl with water and use food coloring to your desired color. Immerse your doily into bowl, pull out with with tongs and let dry. Viola!

Burger Bash

Remember where I started with this one with my first You Tube video? Well, here is what I ended up with. I ended up not using the Spongebob hamburger gummies for 2 reasons...(1)-Madison didn't like them and (2) my cake pop diva Jen brought over hamburger cake pops! LOVE!
Got the cake from Albertson's for only $14.00!! It was chocolate with strawberry filling and it was really YUMMY!
I think the cake turned out great especially for using a grocery store!!
These gorgeous hamburger cupcakes and sugar cookie fries were done by Lizzy's Sweets N' Treats. If you are in the local area ~ I highly recommend her. She does awesome work and the food is so delish!! Plus her prices are very reasonable!! LOVE her!
Of course, my hamburger cake pops done by my friend Jen from Best Cake Pops! Have you seen her Cake Pop invention?? If you make cake pops all the time then you need her product!! She is so amazing on so many levels!
Can you believe that I made these hamburger cookies?? Yep, I finally made something that looks good. Of course no baking was involved!

All the dinner food was set up outside ~buffet style.

Sorry, this is a "real" party so no magazine photo pictures of the food plus this was taking after the first wave of people ate. However, I put the items that needed to be on ice in my inflatable cooler that I got from Oriental Trading Co.
I can not say enough about the company Fun Flicks. They are AWESOME! I love having backyard movies and now my peeps in Phoenix/Scottsdale~it is finally getting cooler so you will be able to have great backyard movies this Fall. I have talked with the owners and we are thinking of having a promotion for some lucky duck to get a FREE movie package! So leave comments if interested and I'll see what we can do.

Halloween Front Porch Decor

I am in full swing on getting my house ready for the holidays. I love this time of year!! I love to decorate the front porch for the seasons, holidays and parties! Even if you don't have a front porch ~ you can decorate your door in an unique way for every occasion. I'm getting my front porch ready for Halloween. As you know I don't do "scary" Halloween but still like to have fun with it. Want a big statement on your porch for almost free???
Go get you a large branch from your tree or in my case since all I have are cactus....procure one :) Then spray paint it! I think the orange gives it a nice pop of color. I added a Dollar Tree bird I had from last year. (I need to get at least one more....hope Dollar Tree still has them this year)
I like how it gives that bland corner height and color. Used my handy dandy Cricut to make the Happy Halloween in vinyl for the door. I will show you the rest this week. As you may have noticed I have not been posting on the weekends~instead I have been posting many "muses" on Facebook during the weekends. Train Crazy

I love this train ticket invitation and party done by Life Inspired. Isn't that ticket adorable???

My all time favorite is this train track using duct tape! How creative and an inexpensive decor idea!

Complete with railroad sign on door! The conductor was at the front door to stamp the kiddos tickets.

They each got a engineers hat and bandanna. This talented momma created 5 stations for the kiddos with train theme activities.

Even made the cupcakes herself!

My FAVORITE station is the shovel the coal station using a handmade cardboard train! LOVE!

I love all of the gorgeous dessert tables around in party land but when it comes down to asking a kid what was their favorite part of their party....at least all of the parties I do~ the kids don't say the dessert table they say how much fun they had at the activities. I'm sure the kiddos loved this train theme party!!

Halloween Google Eyes Picture Frame

Sorry didn't post a Tuesday Transformation today. I have so much going on right now and really trying to find a balance. However, I did make some frames today in preparation for Madison's Halloween party. This year I am going with a monster theme~nothing scary or bloody....that is not my thing. I'm not a blood and guts kind of Halloween girl. Especially for little kids, I like to keep it fun and non-scary! So we are doing a silly monster theme. One night while on my new addiction- Pinterest- I saw this eye frame and LOVED! (sorry don't have the link-if you do please let me know) Anyhoo, I was at Michael's and picked up these unfinished frames for 66 cents! Got the google eyes from Dollar Tree. Paint the frame and go to town gluing eyes onto frame. It will take at least 2 bags.

Glued ribbon along the bottom. I got the wood letters from Michael's and painted them the color of the frame. (I also did some in purple) I'm thinking about putting black and white photos of each of the party guest in the frame or just the words Happy Halloween. I think it's a cute frame to put your child's Halloween costume picture in. Don't you?

Weekly Meal Planning

Here is my kitchen pantry...not much to look at but now I love it~ why??? Well, on my quest for organizing and simplifying my life~ I mentioned that I was going to start weekly menu planning. I am crazy busy with running a business, weekly parties, being a mom and wife and I know you are all super duper busy too. I still really want my family to have a home cooked meal at least 4 times a week. I have stuck to this rule for at least 2 years now. However, every day I find myself starting to stress on what I am making for dinner. Usually when I am out and not sure what I have at home. So I've decided to start planning out my meals on Sunday at home where I can see what I have and if I need anything I can put on grocery list to pick up for the week on Monday.
I got this awesome vinyl (comes in chalkboard as well) from Style with Vinyl. It was a GroopDealz back in August so I got it for only $9.95. To my surprise it fit PERFECTLY inside my pantry door. I was too excited! Now it's right in the kitchen and a constant reminder of my meal planning and meals! I like it inside the door so it's not right in plain sight but I'm in the pantry at least 20 times a day so I see it all the time!
Here is my first week of meal planning. Yippee....I'm so excited to get more organized. I find that the more organized my life is ~ it really helps everything run more smoother with less stress.

I think this is a great idea to do for a Halloween playdate, party or just for the kiddos the morning of Halloween~ although, Halloween this year is on a Monday. Boo! Halloween Pudding Bar

I think that this little pudding bar is too cute for the kiddos for a Halloween treat or to make during a party.

I just love the names of the food items especially bat poop for chocolate chips. Although, Madison loves to say the word poop too much and likes to make others laugh by saying it.....often.

Mix ghost blood (milk) and crushed bones (vanilla pudding powder) together to make base. Each kid can do that in their own cup and then add all of their favorite toppings. LOVE!

I really love the cups that light up various colors. This savvy momma found them at Dollar Tree (in 2008) Maybe they will have them again this year??? You know I will be checking!

I love this idea and think I will be adding it to Maddy's Halloween party this year.

Transformation Tuesday~Picture Frame Chalkboard

I have this gorgeous Ikea frame that I've never used for a photo. If you recall I used the frame portion for Halloween decor at my store. Check out here. I have been working on my home with many DIY projects getting ready for the upcoming holidays and decided to repurpose this frame into a chalkboard. I simply cleaned the glass of frame and roughed it up with a sheet of sandpaper. Cleaned the glass again then applied 3 coats of chalkboard paint.

I plan on putting the word menu on top in vinyl lettering. I really am tired of everyday (late afternoon) thinking what is for dinner so I'm going to start doing weekly meal planning on Sunday. I will keep you posted with my progress.

Hamburger Cupcakes & Fries

This was made famous by the ever talented Bakerella! Put a brownie (hamburger patty) in the middle of a vanilla cupcake add icing for ketchup, mustard and lettuce. French fries are sugar cookies cut up.

I made some hamburger cookies for my upcoming Burger Bash on Saturday. This is the most easiest, no bake recipe I've ever done! Try these hamburger cookies for your next BBQ, family reunion or party. Ingredients:

Vanilla Wafers

Coconut

Red and Yellow frosting...I used Easy Squeeze

Green food coloring

Fudge Mint cookies...Keebler makes Mint Grasshopper cookies

Put coconut in large Ziploc bag and squirt a few drops of green food coloring. Shake~

then you have your lettuce. Put a vanilla wafer round side down, add a dab of frosting so fudge mint cookie will stick. Then add strips of red and yellow frosting near the edge to simulate mustard and ketchup. Add the green coconut on top then top with vanilla wafer.

So super duper easy!! Plus they totally look like hamburgers. I've seen another version that added corn syrup then sesame seeds on top or to use a small Peppermint Patty as the burger. I'm not a fan of sesame seeds or the extra work so I'll stick with this recipe.

Candy Apple Creation Station

I love Fall! It is by far my favorite season. Living in Phoenix for the past 4 years, there aren't leaves changing into gorgeous colors and the wonderful Fall smells that I was used to on the East Coast. However, the weather is beautiful and I decorate with all types of Autumnal colors. One thing I think of when I think of Fall or Halloween is carmel apples. I think a great twist to this is to have a candy apple creation station. Decorate your buffet with sticked apples, warm carmel, melted milk and white chocolate and any type of crushed candy you can think of.

Have your guests make their own treat to eat and take home. This would also be a great favor for a fall wedding~don't you think?

BBQ Cutlery Bags

Remember my "muse" for my BBQ Cutlery bags? I finally made it to Dollar Tree today and picked up my brown paper bags. I'm no graphic designer but I can use Picnik! So I made my bag label and printed on the paper bags. Cut the top of bag down with wavy-edge scissors.

Inside I put a red and white checked napkin (also found at Dollar Tree today), cutlery, and Wet Ones. I am happy how they turned out.

While at Dollar Tree, I also picked up some shaving cream and Madison and I mixed in food coloring so she could paint in the tub tonight. This was another thing that I can cross off my summer to do list! She absolutely loved this!!

Pizza Party

(New Series) Transformation Tuesday~School Desk

As you know I have a passion for parties and entertaining but I also have a passion for making old things new or to find a new purpose for things. I used to blog Dollar Days where I would take dollar store items and transform them into things you could use for parties. However, with running my business, being a mom & wife, I didn't always get a chance to make something from dollar stores. I realize though that I'm always transforming something whether it be a thrift store find, dollar store item or something I already own into something new. So every Tuesday, I will share my transformations with you.

I wanted to get Madison a school desk so she can have a designated place to practice her writing. I ran across this old desk at Goodwill. The top was pretty beat up with scratches, paint and marker spots. However, no deep scratches and it was the perfect height and size. To my surprise when I got to the register to pay, it was 50% off so I got this baby for $3.50!

I spray painted the whole think pink. Then I painted the top with chalkboard paint that I already had on hand. I used my Cricut to cut out Madison in pink vinyl.

As you can see Madison loves it. (Look at that beautiful M that she did)

I need to add some storage and something on the wall behind her desk. So I'm sure you will see this again. I hope you like this new series!

Fall Front Porch Ideas

I am working on so many house projects preparing for all of the upcoming holiday entertaining. You know how time flies and really don't want to be tackling house projects while holiday decorating and cooking. I am gathering ideas for my front porch for Fall & Halloween and hit the jackpot when I saw 3 front door ideas from Midwest Living. I love this farm stand approach~I can't get over the rake with apples stuck in next to front door. Shut the front door~too cute! (if you can't see click on image to make larger)

This nature inspired front porch is beautiful. I really like the square wreath.

However, my favorite element is using old keys in pumpkins to spell FALL. It's in the details!

However, I almost fell out the bed....that is usually where I blog.....when I saw this spooky styled one! Is it too early to have Halloween decor up for my Labor Day BBQ?? No, really..is it too early?? I LOVE the color combo black and white, ask any of my friends and family. I always wear the color combo as well. I need a color intervention in my wardrobe! So this combo with the traditional Halloween orange is right up my alley. I'm obsessed with that door. It is a decal from Dali Decals. I looked it up...$75 my peeps. Only problem is I have a double front door??

Amazing what a little paint can do. They also drilled holes into pumpkin. Great concept but I think I would just paint to keep the pumpkin longer. Loving this Boo ladder. I saw a old ladder in Goodwill and didn't get it...what's the chances I'll find another one? Urgh, the search is on!

Back To School Printables

Back to School time! Yes, Madison's school officially started August 8th but I'm sending her back after Labor Day. Since she is still in preschool I didn't think she would miss too much...I won't have that luxury next year when she is a kindergartner. (I get a lump in my throat just thinking about that!) Ice Cream & Donuts

My favorite thing is using soap dispensors to hold liquid toppings for ice cream buffet! Love, Love, Love!!!

10 Things You Don't Know About Me

On my birthday eve, I'm reflecting on my life and where I would like to go from here. I normally don't post personal things about myself since this is an entertaining and party blog but feel like sharing today. I must confess, I like reading US Weekly and the celebrity Top 25 things you don't know. Since I'm not a celebrity I'll only do 10 so not to bore and lose every reader!

1. I am adopted.
2. Back when I was growing up there weren't a lot of mixed race children like there are today. Where I lived, I was the only one so received many stares and ridicule.
3. Both my parents are deceased and it aches my heart daily that my daughter will never know them.
4. My father was a pastor and I grew up strict Pentecostal. My biggest thing I didn't like was that I wasn't allowed to wear pants! I wore long skirts every day! Now, it's hard to get me in a dress but my daughter doesn't want to wear anything but dresses!
5. I was due to have my daughter near my 40th birthday but she came 6 weeks early and my hubby missed the birth. She is still feisty and unpredictable- and the sweetest blessing from God!
6. I didn't have a wedding. My hubby and I eloped and had our ceremony at a gorgeous B&B in Savannah, Georgia. It was perfect!
7. I am a singer and have been in tons of musical productions. My favorite songs to sing are Ava Maria and gospels.
8. I love to sing karaoke - favorite karaoke song to sing- I'll always Love You by Whitney Houston
9. I'm addicted to watching Hoarders!
10. I am very proud to be a part of the "party" blogs. Many people I'm around don't "get" the blog world or why I put so much work into a party so I'm honored and blessed to have gained so many friends who do through blogging! I am passionate about creating and celebrating everything. We are on this earth such a short time so I want to create lasting, cherished memories for my daughter and loved ones.

Outdoor Entertaining

I am having a BBQ over the Labor Day weekend. The bad thing about being a party planner is you can never just have a BBQ. My husband says keep it simple...but if I just put out some burgers ~ my peeps would be like, what?? I can never just have a simple anything. However, I really have been wanting to do a Burger Bash. I am trying to think of an unique way of serving all of the fixings. I came across this outdoor buffet! It was love at first sight! I am an extremely organized person so this display is right up my alley. The fresh herbs in pots are something I hadn't thought about but LOVE!! Her hubby made the surfboards from plywood...I wish my hubby would help me in party prep like this!! (he doesn't read my blog so I'm safe to say that)

I told you that push pops would become the rage, remember? I'm loving the jello shots with a shark gummy in them. BTW, I get a lot of emails asking me where to get the push pop containers. So end of summer is close but not too late to have a popsicle party. You can either purchase popsicles or make your own. The kiddos would love it and would not take too much preparation or money! I adore these popsicle invitations. A great DIY project found here.

Watermelon reminds me of summer so these wateremelon popsicles from Kraft Foods are perfect. I am having one more "Dive" In party for Labor Day weekend. Please help me, I need some suggestions for a movie. I want one that is great for both kids and adults. Of course, I will build my whole food and decor around movie so need to select a movie as soon as possible. Thanks my peeps!

Cupcake Tasting Party

Thanks my FB peeps for helping me finalize the theme for my birthday soiree this year. My favorite food & drink ~ Cupcakes and Coke. I had no idea it is Coke's 125th Anniversary (thanks Amy) so I really must pay homage to my beloved Coke! I love this idea of a cupcake tasting party by Landee See Landee Do.

Great idea to do in mini since you will be eating so many. I think I will have to copy this one!

Fabric Rosettes Obsession

I can't believe that kids have already started going back to school here in Phoenix! Remember the summer list post? As you can see our summer list doesn't have as many completed checks as I would like! Luckily, Madison is still only in preschool so even though her official school year begins August 8th, she will not be starting until after Labor Day. I won't have that luxury next year when she starts kindergarten. OK....I almost started crying thinking of her starting kindergarten!

So I have another month to get a lot more completed checks done!

I joined the bandwagon and made these fabric rosettes to put on my frame. I thought they would be difficult but turned out to be a really quick and easy project. Now, I'm addicted! Need to find areas in my party world where I can use them!

Are you a pretty baker?

As you know, I really wish I could sew! Another thing I really wish I could do is bake beautiful cakes and cookies! My baking tastes great but does not LOOK great! I'm not a pretty baker! I spend so much money buying cakes and cookies for the many parties that I do!! What a savings it could be if I could do it myself! Oh well, you can't do everything or can you??

Have you heard of the KopyKake projector? Sweetopia has a FANTASTIC tutorial on how to make these gorgeous cookies!! (I love blogland) Of course, it can't improve your piping skills~that you must just keep practicing. Yes, it seems like a lot~ $225 for the KopyKake but with the price of cakes .... you could pay that with just one cake! Do you use KopyKake?

Vintage Sewing Birthday Party

Backyard Camping Birthday Party

I adore this backyard camping birthday party by Eisele Family Nest.

What a gorgeous styled buffet table!

I know those giant smores pops were a huge hit with the boys!

This talented mommy borrowed a 12 person tent from a neighbor for the 10 boys who were camping over. She dressed up the entrance by using denim curtains she found at Goodwill~my kind of girl!

She personalized canteens purchased from Oriental Trading.

Had a table set up for midnight snacks....love!

Outdoor Storage

Remember, Madison's General Store from her Toy Story Western party? I got this outdoor shelf on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I knew it would be perfect to hold all of the basket of items for the kiddos favors.

However, since the party ~ this is how the shelf has looked. I had some galvanized tubs that I got from a yard sale sitting in the garage and decided to make this shelf useful.

I used my Cricut and black contact paper and made labels for an outdoor storage shelf.

There are containers for our most commonly used outdoor items. Bubbles, Chalk, Toys (dog toys), pool (dive sticks, goggles, etc.) and sun (sunscreen).

I have a custom pool party this weekend for an adorable boy who is turning 5. I will be posting some party prep on Facebook this week.

Cookie Baking Birthday party

This is one of the most adorable milk and cookies party I have ever seen from Cookie Mondays! (and I've seen a lot)

So many precious handmade items. I love the cupcake liner garland so cute for a baking party like this one!

Each girl's initial on shirt and beautiful apron! Oh how I wish I could sew!

Each girl got her own baking sheet, utensils, and chef hat...plus the shirt and apron! WOW!

I am in LOVE with this chef hat with the cupcake liner flower!!

Made cookie dough.....

then the girls added their choice of items to go into dough.......

and made their own cookies. I AM SO DOING THIS!!

Of course must have a milk & cookies buffet. Love the cookie sandwich in lieu of birthday cake. I adore this party. One of Madison's school buddies is coming over tomorrow for a play date. I had no idea what to have for lunch. Now, I know this would be perfect for the girls to make their own lunch. Don't you just love blogs and all of the amazing creative people....so full of muses!

Sharing Secrets

Many of you have asked for me to show my signature parties on the blog not just my custom ones. Maddycakes signature parties are princess, pirate, spa, fairy, fashionista, chef and camping parties. (I'm adding 2 more) I chose these themes because they are classics, never go out of style and are the most popular/requested parties. I call them signature parties because Maddycakes has all of the items for these parties in stock and it's a cheaper option for parents than a custom party. However, I don't like doing the same thing twice so I am constantly changing my arrangements.

We have between 1 hour and 90 minutes for total set up which includes mini dessert tables, tablescapes, crafts and activity stations. Must unload all items and set up and I am working as fast as my body will allow me to finish on time. I've never been late but usually finish with only minutes if not seconds to spare! I was fortunate this past Sunday, the client was a photographer so I finally got some good pictures to show you of a signature party. I generally do not have time to take photos of my work due to the minute guests arrive...I go to work some more! Here is a picture of a mini dessert table.

I use a transportable and lightweight backdrop for all my dessert tables. This one is for my princess or fashionista table. What is it??It's a garmet rack that I got from Walmart. I break it down into 2 pieces when transporting (top and bottom). I simply tie various colors of pink boas onto the top frame of garment rack...viola instant backdrop!

You can use store bought items and dress them up for your dessert tables! Take prepackaged Rice Krispie treats, cut in half and dip in melted Wilton Candy Melts. Cute and easy and the kiddos love.....so do the adults!

Of course, we always have cakepops from my cakepop diva and friend, Jenn from Heavenly Cakepops!

Kiddos love the marshmallow pops especially the strawberry marshmallows like these.

One of my best Hobby Lobby finds was this princess carriage. It was on clearance for $10! It used to be a brown metal color and I spray painted it white. It's quite large and makes an awesome centerpiece. Sometimes I fill it with a Styrofoam ring with fresh flowers with the tiara on top.

I generally do Princess and Knights party when it is a mix crowd however Tara wanted Pirate and Princesses. I really like the combo! Thanks Tara from Tara Gaffney Photography for the awesome photos and allowing Maddycakes to be a part of such a special day for Grayson!
